Maardu dekennaal

The exhibition “Imageries in Blanks” is one of the central events of the Maardu Decennial, where the works of ten Estonian artists explore spatial and mental gaps. The city of Maardu is an example of a small town, symptomatic of Eastern Europe, which has a well-functioning inner life but is culturally isolated from the centre and incomprehensible and obscure to the outside world. Drawing on the context of Maardu, the exhibition explores the emergence and dissolution of identities of in-between places and communities. ‘Imageries in Blanks’ is a gathering ground for exploring points of cultural concentration and phenomena trapped in the blanks of time, space, ideas and structures.
The exhibition will take place in a temporary gallery in the former restaurant in Lahe centre and in the urban space of Maardu. Exhibition will be open from 3 to 19 June Wen-Sun from 12 to 20. Admission free!
